Paul Corry

President of
Frankston Bridge Club

Paul Corry spent 40 plus years as a manager with Telstra in a variety of roles, all involving solving problems and understanding complex technical issues, so it was only natural that he took up learning Bridge!

He is currently the President of Frankston Bridge Club and like a lot of us, started bridge about 20 years ago. His sister wanted to learn with a friend and dragged him along for “support”. They left after a couple of weeks, Bridge wasn’t their game, but Paul had found his game and hasn’t looked back.

Paul’s early Bridge partners included Reg Bond,  Gunnar Knudsen and Mal Gill and he paired up with Lynn Clough 10 years ago and they have been quite successful as team.

Paul extended his love of for Bridge by becoming a director about 5 years ago which meant he had to ensure he knew all the rules and how to manage questions that maybe asked from all levels of players.

During COVID, Paul and the committee wanted to ensure that members could still interact and socialise with each other, so Real Bridge, an online forum via video link was initiated and still continues every Monday night from 7.00pm.

His other hobbies include golf ( just as challenging as Bridge) and is married with one daughter studying at Uni.

Playing with Sue Beckman Paul recently won the Thelma Freher Trophy, a three week event held every year at the club
